These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Taxnest ("Taxnest", "we", "us") governing your use of the Taxnest iOS application and related services (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The service
Taxnest helps U.S. freelancers and self-employed individuals estimate how much to set aside for taxes from each payment, track income and deductions, and stay aware of quarterly estimated-tax deadlines. All calculations are estimates based on the information you provide and on publicly available tax rules, which may change and may not reflect your full situation.
2. Not professional advice
The App does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. Estimates may be inaccurate or incomplete. Before making decisions or filing taxes, consult a qualified professional. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your inputs and for meeting your tax obligations.
3. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the App. You sign in using Apple or Google. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
4. Subscriptions, free trial & billing
- Taxnest is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Current pricing and any free-trial terms are shown in the App before you purchase.
- A free trial, if offered, converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Apple ID subscription settings. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.
- Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except as permitted by law;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the App or its supporting infrastructure;
- Attempt to access another user's data or our systems without authorization.
6. AI Assistant
The App may include an AI Assistant that generates answers using a third-party model. Its responses are automated, may be inaccurate, and are general in nature — they are not advice. Do not enter sensitive personal information into the Assistant. Use of the Assistant is subject to these Terms.
7. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, text, and software, is owned by Taxnest and protected by applicable laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial tax-planning purposes. The data you enter remains yours.
8. Third-party services
The App relies on third-party services (including Apple, Google, Supabase, OpenAI, and RevenueCat). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
9. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ESTIMATES ARE ACCURATE OR THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXNEST AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY TAX PENALTIES, INTEREST, LOST PROFITS, OR LOST DATA ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Taxnest harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your misuse of the App or violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the App and its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer-protection laws require otherwise.
15. Apple App Store
These Terms are between you and Taxnest only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. To the extent any third-party-beneficiary rights apply, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. The App is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies in addition to these Terms; where they conflict, the stricter consumer protections apply.
